FAQs/Info
What is integrative psychiatry, and how is it different from conventional psychiatry?
Integrative psychiatry is an approach to mental health care that combines traditional psychiatric methods with complementary and alternative therapies. It emphasizes a holistic view of a person’s mental well-being and seeks to address the underlying causes of mental health issues, taking into account factors such as nutrition, lifestyle, and mind-body connections. Integrative psychiatry may incorporate treatments like psychotherapy, medication, nutrition, exercise, mindfulness, and other complementary approaches.
The key difference between integrative psychiatry and conventional psychiatry lies in the broader range of treatment modalities and the emphasis on a more holistic, patient-centered approach in integrative psychiatry. Conventional psychiatry primarily relies on medication and psychotherapy as the main treatments, whereas integrative psychiatry explores a wider array of options to support mental health and well-being.
Do you take insurance?
Yellow Bird Psychiatry & Wellness is an out of network practice and is not contracted with any insurance companies currently. This allows for longer appointment times and more individualized care without the constraints of insurance companies. A superbill can be provided to you upon request to submit to your insurance for reimbursement if you have a PPO. For more information, it’s recommended that you contact your insurance company for more information about out of network benefits/reimbursements.
How often will I need to be seen for appointments?
This varies from patient to patient, but generally, it is recommended to be seen on a regular basis, especially initially to ensure your treatment plan is effective. If we make changes to your treatment plan, a follow-up appointment in 2 to 4 weeks is recommended. After you are an established patient and stable, follow-up appointments can usually be scheduled every 3 months. Again, this is dependent upon the individual and his/her treatment plan.
